What You Will Do:
The Division EHS Manager serves as a strategic partner at the divisional level across all functions within the organization, with particular emphasis on coordination with Operations and Technical Services. Our work is completed in challenging food processing industrial
environments and requires effective communication and confidence in evaluating, training, and mentoring others on EHS concepts.
Job duties include:
- Strategic Partnership & Communication
- Serve as a strategic partner to the Operations VP and Division Leadership.
- Lead enterprise, divisional, and site-level EHS communications and initiatives.
- Maintain a consistent presence at division-level meetings.
- Maintain regular and open communication with Operations, EHS Directors, Tech Services Managers, and other key stakeholders regarding Environmental, Health, and Safety issues.
- Strategic Initiatives Lead and advance division-wide safety initiatives including: Working at Heights Confined Space Electrical (MCC room access)
- In-Plant Safety Specialist Development Conveyor, Blender, and Drain Safety Drive company-wide EHS programs and KPIs across all locations.
- Implement and maintain EHS policies within the division.
- Address plant-specific needs and assist with developing, implementing, and monitoring action plans.
- Drive the overall implementation, follow-up, and closure of corrective actions and EHS improvements.
- In-Plant Safety Specialist Support
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of In-Plant Safety Specialists.
- Provide ongoing site mentoring and development for In-Plant Safety Specialists.
- Reporting & Trends
- Monitor and report on division performance in: Operational Excellence (OpEx)
- Focus sites
- Hazard assessments
- Confined space assessments
- Safety committee participation
- Technical services assessments
- Incident management
- OSHA recordables
- Customer & Internal Support
- Serve as a resource for internal Fortrex teams and assist resolution of ethics hotline issues.
- Partner with external customer teams as needed.
- Ensure operations teams comply with external customer requirements, regulatory agencies, and company policies and procedures.
- Investigations, Compliance & Field Support
- Conduct or assist with investigations, including severe injuries, OSHA complaints, and other safety related incidents.
- Ensure follow-up and the successful implementation of all investigation-related action plans.
- Assist with OSHA visits following established OSHA SOPs, including managing site visits, addressing complaints, and supporting informational conferences.
- Field calls from division sites and escalate issues to the Safety Director as needed.
- Provide cross-division support as required, including occasional travel to other geographic locations
- Other duties as assigned.
Your Must Haves:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid and active Driver's License.
- Bachelor's degree in EHS related studies.
- 7 years of progressive management experience in EHS.
What We Prefer You Have:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification.
- Company and technology experience, particularly Microsoft office.
- Other EHS related and professional certifications.
Our Environment:
This position is based in your home office, when not travelling to the corporate headquarters, customer, or plant locations which may require the use of PPE including safety glasses, hardhat, ear protection, and/or other protective equipment/clothing. Walking, standing, sitting, and computer work are all required in this environment. Sitting for extended periods of time when travelling (mostly driving) is also required.
